Rene D. Poitras

Passed peacefully away at the Edmundston Regional Hospital, January 31, 2008, Mr. Rene D. Poitras, 60, of Grand Falls. He was the husband of Phyllis (Yetman) Poitras. Born at Grand Falls in 1948, he was a son of the late Gilbert and Rita (Pontbriand) Poitras.

Prior to an early retirement due to illness, Rene worked many years as a project manager at Grand Falls Industries Ltd.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three children, Natalie Verge (Stephen) of Harbour Grace, NL, Shelley Poitras of Florenceville and David (Heidi Cyr) of St. John's, NL, two grandchildren, John and Julia Verge, one sister, Gladys (Jean-Marc Tremblay) of Repentigny, Quebec, sister-in-law, Anne-Marie Poitras (late Jim) of Fredericton, nephew, Mario Madore, mother-in-law, Lenora Yetman of Harbour Grace, NL. He was predeceased by his brother, Jim.

His funeral was held Monday, February 4th at 2 p.m. from the All Saints Anglican Church, Grand Falls, with Rev. Terrence Chandra officiating. The organist was Shirley Dee and hymns selected were: "Onward Christian Soldiers", "Amazing Grace", "Crying in the Chapel" and "Breathe on me breath of God". The pallbearers were Ron Latour, Lorne Poitras, Rene Yetman, John Yetman, George Poitras and Mario Madore. Interment will be in Harbour Grace, NL.

Arrangements were by O'Regan's Funeral Home, Grand Falls.
