Joyner McCarthy

At Hotel-Dieu of Saint Joseph Hospital, Perth-Andover, August 11, 2010, Mr. Joyner McCarthy of California Settlement passed away at the age of 74.  He was the husband of Helena (Toner) McCarthy.  Born at California Settlement in 1936, he was a son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Downing) McCarthy.

He is survived by his wife, two sons, Joseph Joyner (Carol) of Kitchener, Ontario and Dean Allen (Krista) of Beaver Dam, NB, three grandchildren, Codi of Fort MacMurray, Alberta, Thalia of Kitchener and Gregory of Beaver Dam, three sisters, Judy Pierce (Charles) of Piercemont, Patricia Paul (Wayne) of Woodstock and Emily Quinn (late Bernard) of Kingston, Ontario, six brothers, Keith (Mary) of Butler, Pennsylvania, Bernard (Joyce) of Tobique First Nation, Mayvard (Ginette) of California Settlement, Jimmy (Patricia) of Quispamsis, Christopher of Kingston, Ontario and Calvin (Barbara) of St. Paul, Alberta, sister-in-law, Joan McCarthy of Grand Falls, brother-in-law, Jim Bear of Ottawa, several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Gregory Thomas, one sister, Pauline Bear, two brothers, Archie and Larry.

His funeral service was held Monday, August 16th at 4 p.m. from St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls (Portage) with Father Gilbert Doddatto officiating, assisted by Father Leo Gregoire, Father Curtis Sappier, Father Joseph Okoko, Father Stan Madu and Pastoral Agent Harold Short-Evans.  Interment followed in the adjoining cemetery. 

Arrangements were by O'Regan's Funeral Home, Grand Falls.
