Marie-France Perley

At the Grand Falls General Hospital on June 10, 2026, Mrs. Marie-France (Lavoie) Perley of Grand Falls passed away peacefully at the age of 77, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Leslie Perley, with whom she shared 57 years of marriage. Their enduring love, devotion, and partnership were a source of inspiration to their family and all who knew them.

Born in Grand Falls in 1949, she was the daughter of the late Aurèle and Gertrude (Côté) Lavoie.

Marie-France is survived by her loving, handsome, husband, Leslie, and their four children:

   •   Tara Perley-Levi (Ken Levi) of Metepenagiag First Nation, and their children, Olivia and Madison; and grandchildren, Oax and Megan.

   •   Leslie Wade Perley (Melessa Moreau) of DSL de Drummond, and their children, Cole (Samantha), Cassey, Caden, Connor, and Candra; and grandchildren, Zelda and Melessa.

   •   Len Perley of Dieppe, husband of the late Manon Cyr, and their son, Mason.

   •   Brad Perley (Tara Francis) of Neqotkuk First Nation, and their children, Koby and Kiara; and grandchildren, Luelle, Emerson, Maliyah, and Malakhi.

She is also survived by her brother, Guildo Lavoie (Anne) of Ontario; her sister-in-law, Jean Lavoie, wife of the late Hermel Lavoie, of Maine; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Manon Cyr, and by her siblings: Yvon Lavoie (husband of the late Thérèse Lavoie) of Connecticut, Réjeanne Lavoie of Saint-Quentin, Hermel Lavoie (Jean) of Maine, and Gisèle Bellefleur (wife of the late Noël Bellefleur) of Grand Falls. Her in-laws late Simon and Edna Perley,  Late Edward and Ada Perley, late Kenneth and Diane Perley, late Janice Messenger, late Donna Robbins and Late Virginia Ernst.

Marie-France was loved by many and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome. Known for her warmth, kindness, and generous spirit, she greeted family, friends, and even strangers with a smile and a big hug. Her home was always a place of comfort and hospitality, and her caring nature touched the lives of countless people. She had a remarkable ability to make others feel valued, loved, and at ease in her presence.They always ensured that their home was open to everyone and a meal was always shared.

Her legacy of love, compassion, and family devotion will continue to live on through the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her family, friends, and community.

Marie-France will resting at her home, at 570 Basin Street West in Grand Falls with visiting hours on Tuesday, June 16th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday, June 17th from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 18th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church on Tobique First Nation with Father Curtis Sappier officiating.
