At the Edmundston Regional Hospital, July 21, 2020, Mrs. Irene Violette of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes passed away at the age of 83.  She was the widow of Lorenzo Violette and had been a resident of a Special Care Home at Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska the past few years.  Born at Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes in 1937, she was a daughter of the late Leonide and Antoinette (Belanger) Michaud.

Mrs. Violette was employed at McCain Foods Limited for 20 years.  She was a member of the ''Mouvement des femmes chrétiennes'' of Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes as well as the St. Joseph Society.  She was also the first secretary of her Parish Pastoral Council.

She is survived by four children, Diane Cormier (Maurice), Laurence Violette (Marius Ruest), Camille Violette (Pierrette Martin) and Johanne Ruest (Leo), son-in-law, Clarence Thibodeau (late Viviane), daughter-in-law, Jacqueline (late Irenee), 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren plus one on the way, two brothers and one sister, Roger Michaud (Therese) of Terrebonne, Quebec, Jean-Claude Michaud (Celine) of Montreal and Doreen Couturier (Ghislain) of Laval, Quebec, half-sisters, Sister Monique Michaud of Ottawa and Sister Brigitte Michaud of Montreal, as well as nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by two children, Viviane Thibodeau and Irenee Violette, sisters and brothers, Alyre Michaud, Bibiane Michaud, Rolande Michaud (late Leonide), Camille Michaud (Candide), Real Michaud (Adrienne), Roland Michaud (late Vera) and Diana (late Philippe Maltais).    

Her funeral service will be held from the Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with her family and close friends in attendance.  A nephew, Father Roland Poitras will be officiating.  Interment will be in the parish cemetery.  

Due to restrictions imposed by the Dept. of Health, the attendees will be contacted by the family.
