S. Beatrice Marie Hansen

Beatrice Hansen of New Denmark, NB, passed away peacefully at the Victoria Glen Manor on February 21, 2021.

Beatrice was born in New Denmark, NB on May 4, 1932 to Edward and Esther (Carlsen) Jensen. Beatrice leaves behind her son, Kent (Rosslyn) of New Denmark, NB, her daughters, Karen O’Regan (Shawn) of Perth- Andover, NB, Valerie Brayall (Greg) of Fort McMurray, AB, and Sheila Kukurski of Red Rapids, NB. She will be missed by 7 grandsons and their families and 9 great grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Charlotte Hansen; many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Beatrice was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 49 years, Bobby, her grandson, Ian Hansen and her brother, Sterling Jensen.

After the passing of her beloved husband, Bobby in 2001, Beatrice continued to live on their farm for 17 years with the help of her family and friends.  Beatrice and her family appreciated the many homecare workers with whom she formed special friendships as they assisted her with her personal care, home and yard work.  When she required more care, she was accepted to move into the Victoria Glen Manor.

Beatrice went to Normal School when she was 17 and worked for many years as a Teacher in New Denmark. She loved teaching and the interactions through the years with the many students she had taught. She had lifelong involvement in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and in many other community organizations and activities.

The family would like express our sincere appreciation to Dr. Peter Moore for his excellent care of mom over the many years. We ALL celebrated the kidney transplant she received in 1998- the kidney was a ‘Gift of Life’ for her.

Our heartfelt Thanks to Dr. Moore, Dr. Allison Kennedy and to ALL the Staff, and Volunteers for their excellent care and kindness to Mom during her 2 year stay at the manor.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ Service for Beatrice will take place on Monday, August 23rd at 2:00 p.m. from St. Peter's Lutheran Church, New Denmark with Pastor Jonah Bruce officiating.  Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery.

For those who wish, donations to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
