Preston ''Smiley'' Murchison

At the Falls Villa (Grand Falls Manor), April 1, 2021, Mr. Preston ''Smiley'' Murchison of Grand Falls passed away at the age of 91 years.  He was married to the former Marie-May Caron.  Born at Four Falls in 1929, he was a son of the late Wilmot Earl and Mary Olive (Hartt) Murchison.

Mr. Murchison was retired from McCain Foods Limited after 32 years of faithful and dedicated service to the company.  He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree of Council 2331 and 4th degree of Assembly 0621.  He was also an honorary life member of the Grand Falls Golden Age Club, member of the U.C.T., Grand Falls Council 854, an associate-member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 21 and an altar server at the St-Georges Roman Catholic Parish of Grand Falls, particularly at funeral celebrations.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marie-May, four daughters, Robertine Marquis (Mario) of Grand Falls, Patricia Geneau (Cyr) of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Monic Ouellette (Zoël) of Grand Falls and Paula Murchison (Michel Parent) of Edmundston, seven grandchildren, Mélanie, Karine, April, Jamie, Dominic, Frédéric and Marc-André, nine great grandchildren, one brother, Earlen (Shirley) of Ancaster, Ontario, brothers-in-law, Joseph Holmes (late Leitha) and Ron Michaud (late Lillian), as well as several nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his in-laws of the Caron Family.

He was predeceased by siblings, Adrian, Sheldon, Delbert, Merrold and Beacher Murchison, Emma Holmes, Leitha Holmes, Lillian Michaud and infant sisters Edith and Etta Murchison.

Funeral services will be held from the St-Georges Roman Catholic Church, Grand Falls with his family and close friends in attendance. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.

Due to restrictions imposed by the Dept. of Health, attendees will be contacted by the family.

For those who wish, donations to the Falls Villa Memorial Fund or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated by the family.
