Camille Poitras

Camille Poitras, 83, husband of Thérèse Michaud, of Grand Falls passed away suddenly at the Edmundston Regional Hospital on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.  Born in Saint-André in 1937, he was the son of the late Edouard Poitras and the late Pauline Mazerolle.

Mr. Poitras was well known as an accomplished entrepreneur in the Grand Falls and Saint-André area. He was appreciated by all and never missed an opportunity to help his fellow people or to share his good humour. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 3rd Degree Council 2331 and the Grand Falls Golden Age Club. He was also a volunteer in various organizations, including the group of parishioners born in 1937 who took on the task of repairing and restoring the Saint-André cemetery.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two children, Louise Poitras of Grand Falls, and Pierre Poitras (Colleen Allen) of Milton, Ontario and three grandchildren Ashley Poitras (Ben Kohanski) of Danbury, Connecticut, Camille Coulombe (Ryker Hatch) of Fredericton, New Brunswick and Trent Poitras of Milton, Ontario. He is also survived by two sisters Rina Zizzamia (Tony) of New Jersey and Alvette Greensides of Texas as well as nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son Marc-André Poitras, his sisters Venette (Gerry Landry), Sylvaine (Louis Desjardins), Alvine (Jimmy Williams), Mariette (Fernand Lafrance), Cécile (Richard Bellinger), Claudette (Frank Caltagirone) and his brother Gérald (Gerry Poitras).

A Liturgy of the Word Celebration will be held at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls on Friday, August 13th at 11 a.m. with interment in Saint-André Parish Cemetery.

The family will be receiving relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.
