Gilbert E. Poitras

At the Edmundston Regional Hospital, September 17, 2021, Mr. Gilbert E. Poitras of Saint-Leonard passed away at the age of 90.  He was the husband of Lorraine (Ouellette) Poitras.  Born at Saint-Andre in 1931, he was a son of the late Edmond and Memory (Michaud) Poitras.

Mr. Poitras was a member of the Knights of Colombus, 3rd degree of Council 2743 and 4th degree of the 0622 Rev. Enoil Theriault Assembly.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lorraine, seven children, Jacinthe Violette (John) of Saint-Leonard, Gilles (companion Beth McCormick) of Drummond, Roger (companion Julie Levesque) of Saint-Leonard, Eugene (Carol) of Bathurst, Diane Beaulieu (Mario) of Saint-Leonard, Gerard (Linda) of Moncton and Denis (Suzanne) of Saint-Leonard, 18 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren plus one on the way, one brother, Alyre (Gisele) of Saint-Leonard, three sisters, Yvonne Dubé (Alphe) of Perth-Andover, Jeanne Ouellette (Fidele) of Saint-Leonard and Evelyne Michaud of Saint-Basile, as well as nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by a son Renald at the age of 5 years as well as brothers and sisters, Edouard "Wood", Adolphe, Armand, Georges, Denis, Anna St-Amand, Cecile St-Amand, Rose St-Amand and Alda Cyr Violette.

Resting at O'Regan's Chapel, 83 St-Antoine Street, Saint-Leonard with visiting hours on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

His funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 21st at 11 a.m. from the Saint-Leonard Roman Catholic Church with interment in the parish cemetery.
