Gisèle Martin Thériault

1942-2021

Gisèle Martin Thériault

At the Saint John Regional Hospital, accompanied by her dear husband Guildor and some members of her family, 79-year-old Gisèle Martin Thériault passed away peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2021 of a sudden medical condition.

Originally from Sainte-Anne-de-Madawaska and having lived in Grand Falls for several decades, she was the daughter of the late Ben H. Martin and the late Léona (Thériault) Martin.

Gisèle was first and foremost a woman totally devoted to her family and her community. She was an exceptional wife, an exceptional mother, an unequaled mother-in-law, an extraordinary grandmother. Her generosity, her sense of humor and her zest for life were among her greatest qualities. She left a lasting impression on everyone she came into contact with.

Gisèle made a career at Foyer Notre-Dame of Saint-Leonard as Activities Director. She stood out with her passion for making sure residents got the most out of life and "never have nothing to do." She then joined her husband Guildor as a company representative in the footwear industry throughout the Maritimes. After her retirement, Gisèle became fully devoted to her community, including the Daughters of Isabella chapter, the Grand Falls Legion and Assumption parish. She was also a member of the Grand Falls Golden Age Club.

Gisèle is survived by the love of her life, her husband Guildor. She is the proud mother of Yves Cormier (Line), Louise Thériault (Gilles) and Charlotte Cormier (Hermel Guerrette). She also had a special place in her heart for the children of Guildor, Michelle Thériault, Marcelle Michaud (Bernard), Danielle Thériault (Carl Ettinger) and Tina Michaud (Hermel). She was the adored grandmother of her grandchildren, Mélissa, Éric, Brian, Chantal, Hélène, Gary, Luc, Josée, Marie-Claude, Émilie, Christine, Julie and Jessica, and also the grandmother of 16 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Raph (Germaine).

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Emérencienne Moreau, Florence Adornetto and her brothers, Réal and Gérard.

Her funeral service will be on Friday December 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sainte-Anne Roman Catholic Church, with interment in the parish cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and members of the staff of the Hospital Center for their kindness and the exceptional care provided to Gisèle.

In lieu of flowers, you are welcome to make a donation to the foundation of your choice.
