Roger C. Ouellette

1931-2021

Roger C. Ouellette

At the Edmundston Regional Hospital, December 28, 2021, Mr. Roger C. Ouellette of Grand Falls passed away at the age of 90 years.  He was the widower of Bernadette Laplante of Van Buren, Maine.  Born at Drummond in 1931, he was a son of the late Côme and Marie (Bourgoin) Ouellette.

Mr. Ouellette was the Founder of Roger C. Ouellette Ltée of Grand Falls.

He is survived by five children, Marguerite "Margot" Ouellette-Gosselin (Paul) of Quebec, Suzanne Cyr (James) of Saint-André, Florence Ouellette and Lise Ouellette of Quebec and René Ouellette (Nisa Doucet) of St-Léonard-Parent, 13 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Thérèse Gongaware of Florida, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Bernadette and his son Roger Jr., 13 brothers, Pierre "Pitre", Edmond, Patrick "Pat", Landry, Fernand, Léopold "Léo", Laurier, Laurent, Adolphe (Dolphe), Jean-Réal, Jules, Paul, Côme Jr., two sisters, Blanche Levesque and Rose Castonguay.

Working on the family farm, he pursued his own path at a very young age. Being a visionary, he embarked on a career as a salesman: Fuller Brush, life insurance, fruits + vegetables and potato bags. An innovator by nature and an entrepreneur in spirit, he continued to find his way into the business world as the founder of Roger C. Ouellette Ltd. in 1964. Active in the community, he was a member of the U.C.T. council 854, a member of the Richelieu Club and a member of the Grand Falls Golden Age Club. He was elected as a town councilor in 1962, sharing his opinions and life experiences with all around him. Age and retirement were not an option for him as he could not let go of his love of his business. He worked within the company until he was in his late 80's and even until the end of his life, you could find him at his post watching, chatting and admiring the machine under construction and contemplating his work. A love of work that continues even after 55 years. Golf and dancing were his favorite pastimes.

Families, friends and employees will remember him, his smile and his passion for '' his potato machines. ''
