Dorice Michaud
1938-2022

It is with the deepest
sadness that we announce that our loving and caring Dorice died at the
hospital in Grand Falls, NB on June 11, 2022 at the age of 83.
Faithful wife of 61
years to Bernard Michaud and residing in Saint Léonard, NB,
she is also survived by her three sons: Guy (Marcella Lapointe) of
Saint Léonard, NB, Gilles (Rita McNeil) of Ottawa, ON and
Luc ( Nadine Malenfant) of Dieppe, NB for whom she served as a model
of courage, conviction and unconditional love.
Her grandchildren
Julie Mazerolle (Luc) of Saint Léonard, NB, Lindsie Tardif
(Billy) of Moncton, NB, Éric Michaud of Victoria, BC, Danie
Michaud of London, England, Alexis Michaud (Vickie) of Shediac, NB and
Maxime Michaud (Katia Arsenault) of Cap Pelé, NB will have
benefited from the wisdom, divine goodness and good cooking of their
grandmother Dorice.
Her
great-grandchildren Marilou, Magali, Fred, Maya and Eva will keep fond
memories of their great-grandmother Michaud's contagious smile and
human warmth.
A teacher by
profession, she was able to inspire a taste for knowledge and learning
in thousands of people until her last day. Her tenacity and
competitiveness that characterized her exploits in life were not
enough to overcome her greatest challenge in the form of cancer.
Moreover, the family
would like to thank the staff of the Grand Falls and Edmundston
hospitals, including those of the extra-mural program, for having
accompanied her with dignity and provided the most professional care
over the past two years. Special mention is directed to Doctor Jacques
Maillet of the Dr Léon Richard Oncology Centre who followed
with attention and respect the journey of our dear
Dorice.
Born in Lac Baker, NB
in 1938 and daughter of the late Joseph Caouette and the late Florida
Lang, it is her humility, her joie de vivre and her unparalleled sense
of humor that her brother Carmel (late Berthe) of Edmundston, NB and
her sister Odette Duggan (Paul) of Toronto, ON, as well as her many
nephews, nieces and friends will always be remembered. Dorice is
predeceased by her brothers Roger (Corinne Potvin), Alban (Anita
Mailly), Conrad (late Marie Mai Lavoie), Lewis (Gisèle
Boulanger) and Lucien (Lise Plamondon) as well as her sisters Marthe
(late Éric Boutot), Gilberte (late Roger Levesque) and
Lucille.
All are invited to
join the family on June 30, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the church of Saint
Léonard NB, located on Principale Street, to celebrate the
life of our beloved Dorice in prayers, tributes and songs. Her ashes
will be on display beginning at 9:30 a.m. on the day of the funeral at
O'Regan's Chapel, located at 83 St Antoine Street in Saint Leonard,
NB. A reception will accompany the rest of the celebrations in the
basement of the church.
Although Dorice
appreciated the beauty and symbolism of the gift of flowers, her
expressed wishes are that donations be directed to the Canadian Cancer
Society New Brunswick Division or to the Myeloma Foundation 8849M
Inc., 17 Bliss-Noiles Street, Dieppe, NB E1A
0W7.
