Pierre Melanson

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our brother, Pierre Melanson, on Monday February 27, 2023, in Grand-Falls N-B, at the age of 65. Born in Scoudouc, he was the son of the late Emery Melanson and of the late Rita Surette. 

He is survived and sadly missed by his brothers and sisters:  Alban (Fernande Pineau) of Dieppe, Annette (Ola Goguen) of Cocagne, Jeannine (Victor Gautreau) of Shediac, Félice (Donald Williams) of Cocagne, Murielle (Roméo Desprès) of Cocagne, Oscar (Diane Savoie) of Tracadie, Omer (France Larocque) of Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts PQ; a brother-in-law Dr Gilles Lavallée of Montréal PQ; several nieces and nephews, cousins as well as cherished friends.

Besides his parents, he is now resting in peace with our sister Marguerite and brother-in-law Kenneth Gagnon.

Pierre taught music for 30 years in various schools in Grand Falls; Sacré-Coeur Elementary School, l’Académie Notre-Dame, Mgr-Lang Elementary School in Drummond, Fernande Bédard Elementary School in Saint-Léonard and la Régionale of Saint-André Elementary School. Pierre had a great passion for music and greatly contributed to fulfil his special talent to the community. He was also a member of l’Orchestre Philharmonique du Haut-Saint-Jean as a violinist. Besides music, travelling was one of his passions. He travelled around the world from Grand Falls to Australia where he visited many countries for several months during a sabbatical leave. He also loved walking and was grateful for the wonderful adventure he lived while walking the pilgrimage of St-Jacques-de-Compostelle, twice. 

 

A celebration of life of Pierre Melanson will be held on Saturday April 29th from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at O'Regan Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd. in Grand Falls, NB (https://www.oregans.ca)

On Tuesday, May 2, from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m., you can pay him a last tribute at Chartersville Funeral Home in Dieppe, NB (http://www.chartersville.com), followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. at Saint-Thérèse-de-l'Enfant-Jésus Church in Dieppe.

 

Donations in Pierre's memory may be made to the Breakfast Program for kids in a school of your choice either in Grand Falls or Moncton/Dieppe and/or to the library of Mgr. Lang School in Drummond NB.
