Gaëtane Rioux

1940-2023

Gaëtane Rioux

At her reisdence, Pavillon Beaulieu of Grand Falls, March 18, 2023, Mrs. Gaëtane Rioux passed away at the age of 82 years. She was the widow of Alyre Rioux. Born at Grand Falls in 1940, she was the daughter of the late Elie and Alma (Guay) Blanchette.

She was a pillar of love and strength for our family, and her absence will be felt deeply. She was a devoted matriarch, who poured her heart and soul into caring for her family, from her children to the latest great grandchildren. She adored each and everyone, and her love was unconditional.

Her passion for cooking and establishing family traditions was obvious and we so cherished the smell of home cooked meals when dropping in for a visit. Her recipes will be cherished for generations to come. She instilled the importance of coming together as a family, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate milestones and create memories as well as find uniting ground for all of us.

She was a trailblazer, owning multiple successful businesses with her loving husband, but her passion was her bridal salon leaving a lasting impression on every bride's heart. Her attention to detail and creativity were unparalleled. Despite facing many challenges and realities of life in the 50's and 60's, she never gave up on her lifelong dream of earning a diploma, and their unwavering determination and perseverance serve as an inspiration to all who knew her.

May you finally join your love and know you will be missed more than words can express.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Bryan) McLaughlin, Lisa (Daniel) Boulet of Grand Falls, Patrice (Jean) Rioux of Springhill, NS, Alyre Jr. (Carmelle) Rioux and daughter-in-law, Suzanne (late Michel) Rioux of Grand Falls, ten grandchildren, Marc, Cheryl, Anik, Laura, Brad, Sascha, Carolyne, Danika, Marie-Claude and André, 16 great grandchildren, Noah, Owen, Charles, Frank, Cole, Katrine, Shanelle, Avery, Abby, Bryce, Paetyn, Grayem, Lexa, Cooper, Myla and Raphael, sisters-in-law, Eileen Blanchette of Fredericton and Edna Blanchette of Grand Falls, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

She was predeceased by a son Michel, three grandchildren, Gaby, Joseph, Brian and a great granddaughter, Gabriella, two sisters and eight brothers, Noëlla, Adélia, Alcide, Noël, Fernand, Ediie, Félix, Adrien, Hélidore and Guildor.
