Paula Baker Johnston age 72 of New Denmark NB passed away March ·24th, 2026. Paula is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Dale Johnston. She was predeceased by her parents, Isabelle Baker (Bellefleur) and Bernard Baker, as well as her sister, Dawn. She will be dearly missed by extended family, cousins, friends, and all who knew her.
Paula had a lifelong love for Collie dogs, owning them from her youth onward. Her most recent beloved companion was Brea, who brought her much joy and comfort. Paula attended the University of New Brunswick, graduating in 1976, and went on to pursue a lifelong career in teaching. Gifted in languages, she taught English, French, and Spanish, sharing her passion for learning with countless students. She concluded her career in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick, where she made a lasting impression on colleagues and students alike.
Paula cherished relaxing times spent with her husband Dale at their camp on Monson Pond. She loved adventure and treasured opportunities to gather with her childhood schoolmates from Grand Falls. A dedicated and thoughtful friend, Paula often expressed her affection through meaningful memorial gifts, always remembering others during important moments in their lives, faithfully calling them on their birthdays. She was sociable, well liked, and enjoyed getting together with friends and coworkers.
Paula shared a particularly close bond with her cousin Gail and her lifelong best friend, Rachel who, along with her devoted husband Dale, provided special care and support during Paula's final years, which were filled with many challenging days. A plaque in Rachel's home reads, "When all else fails, call Rachel," a sentiment that reflected their deep and enduring friendship. Paula will be remembered for her kindness, warmth, and the genuine connections she built throughout her life. She will be greatly missed.
A Liturgy of the Word Celebration for Paula and her sister Dawn, will be held Saturday June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at O'Regan's Funeral Home, 515 Everard Daigle Blvd., Grand Falls. Interment will be private.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home on Saturday, June 20th from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m.
